On the afternoon of February 17th, 2023, the matchmaking & exchange meeting of infrastructure investment and construction under the RCEP framework and the Promotion Conference of the 2023 Changsha International Construction Equipment Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as “2023 CICEE”) was successfully held in Beijing. Since January 1, 2022, RCEP has been put into effect in 14 countries and is gradually developing into a highlight for world economic growth. As the country with the largest economy in RCEP, China’s accession to RCEP is a major strategic deployment to accelerate regional economic and trade cooperation to achieve win-win cooperation, and is also a step to open an important window for the development of the global construction machinery industry.

Zhou Yue, Deputy Director of Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce said that Hunan actively merged into the tide of globalization and RCEP, and actively expanded its international “circle of friends”. “In 2022, Hunan’s import and export to other RCEP member countries reached 230 billion yuan, a growth of 27.6%, accounting for 32.5% of Hunan’s total foreign trade value, an increase of 1.9 percentage points from 2021 before RCEP came into effect.”

Kang Zhenlin, Deputy Mayor of Changsha Municipal People’s Government mentioned in his speech that “With the continuous release of policy dividends, RCEP has also become the biggest highlight of world economic growth. As a new modern city that is full of vitality with strong development momentum and wide influence, Changsha maintains close and active economic and trade exchanges with RCEP countries.” Changsha International Construction Equipment Exhibition will seize the great opportunity of RCEP, deeply connect with the construction of “the Belt and Road initiative”, actively integrate into the RECP, thus building a global sales network and platform for construction machinery.

Ms. Nadia Sumampouw, Counsellor for Economic Affairs of the Embassy of Indonesia in China, delivered a speech on behalf of the delegation of RCEP countries in China, and Mr. Emmanuel W. Ang, Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy of the Philippines, introduced the current situation of Philippine national infrastructure investment and construction. Chinese and international enterprises such as Power China, LafargeHolcim, and Shantui Co., Ltd. shared their participation in construction projects in RCEP countries, and conducted in-depth exchanges on further integrated development and in-depth cooperation.

At the promotion conference, Zhou Xianbiao, Secretary-General of China Construction Machinery Society, elaborated on the breakthrough of the 2023 CICEE on behalf of the CICEE Organizing Committee.

Vice Chairman of the Changsha CPPCC and Director of the Changsha Municipal Convention and Exhibition Office, said in the interview, that the Organizing Committee of the 2023 CICEE will strive to build a world construction machinery stage which is “more open and international, better in industrial service, and more functional as an exhibition platform”, to better display the new products, technologies, and brands of China construction machinery industry; to better promote China manufacturing industry to actively embrace RCEP, the Belt and Road Initiative, China-Africa and China-Arab cooperation opportunities and actively expand international and domestic markets; to better promote the high-quality development of advanced manufacturing industry focusing on construction machinery industry and oriented by intelligent, electric and unmanned development.
